EoR: The Book Version

See the Publisher's blurb for reference on the book version.

Writings in EoR have been available on the Web since 1996. Indeed, I started writing these pieces somewhat prior to that -- as early as 1992, as I recall. Back then, the Internet and its vast range of information and easy dispersal of information simply hadn't come into existence as yet.

As I pondered how to communicate perspectives I felt to be of value, I had queried several magazines with articles. But while the Writer's Market listed many magazines that should be interested in works featuring spirituality, consciousness, New Age perspectives and such, articles I submitted didn't find acceptance. I always had to laugh about how the Writer's Market listing of such publications emphasized that they were looking for "fresh, new ideas", yet when significant, well-written new perspectives were actually presented they were invariably rejected.

What they really meant was that the editor wanted the same old ideas that reliably sold their magazines in new, slightly rearranged variations.

But the Internet emerged into common use just as I was wanting to communicate these perspectives and provided the means to indeed make my writing available to a lot of readers -- without the prerequisite of having some editor decide its worth.

At first, I personally built the HTML documents and created graphic images that formed EoR. That early site resided on some small storage space of my early dial-up service provider from 1996 to 1998, at which time I redid the look and feel. I built on the core writings here through those years, adding responses to the many queries EoR generated early on. I then worked with a colleague and friend, Dave Passmore through the year 2003 to develop a more attractive look and better format.

Through that time, from 1998 on, I began speaking to groups on these EoR perspectives. You can follow that track elsewhere on this site.

But the value to that (in addition to benefiting the listeners) was the interaction with other people -- exposure to their reaction to my message, what they typically grasped or what would invariably lead to misunderstanding. Each year, each talk found improvement in my technique and ability to establish a rapport with listeners.

Then in the Fall of 2005 another factor entered the mix. John Hunt, of John Hunt Publishing in England, creator of O-Books (www.o-books.com), having encountered and recognized the value of these perspectives, offered to publish a book version of EoR, should I wish to write it. They do about 70 titles per year, publishing in the USA, UK, Australia and South Africa, and covering a range of body/mind/spirit and consciousness topics. I was impressed with their offerings and subsequently signed a contract with John to convert these writings into book form.

That took until April of 2007 to complete. Having completed the manuscript, I spent time carrying out some updates back here on the website. But now, with the book out, much of my time is spent lining up talks to put EoR out there. Soon most of my time will be spent traveling and speaking.

Indeed, I have so many talks already booked for 2008 that I should be appearing somewhere near you one of these days...
